Haute - M by Madonna

This was sent to me from one of my favorite friends, and not only do I love him, but I loved the info, so I must post about it. Madonna is super-haute! and so is her music and I LOVE that she is partnered with H&M. So, it is a long post, but worth the read - so here goes:

- A modern twist on feminine classics

The creative collaboration between Madonna and H&M continues with the arrival of the 'M by Madonna' fashion collection which will be available at all H&M's stores selling women's wear within all markets in mid-March. Margareta van den Bosch, H&M's head of design and Madonna have joined together to create a line of clothing that reflects Madonna's fashion sensibilities, modern elegance and femininity.

"Madonna has an impressive feel for fashion and trends. She is a total professional, inspiring and enthusiastic. She was involved in even the smallest details of every design. The result is 'M by Madonna' which is all about fashion that people can really love and wear season after season," stated van den Bosch.

The unique yet classic 'M by Madonna' line includes glamorous tops, street-cool lumber jackets, tailored blazers and other apparel including shirt dresses and kimono-shaped dresses. A Madonna favourite is a stylish trench-coat in cotton poplin or leather. 'M by Madonna' is primarily in neutral palettes including white, black, khaki and grey. Fabrics vary from silk, wool, viscose jersey and body-sculpting lycra. The entire line is embellished with a small 'M' logo on linings, zippers and buttons. In addition the 'M by Madonna' look includes a complete line of accessories from sunglasses, party bags and clutches and even skinny leather belts.

This dream collaboration of music and fashion between these two giants began last spring when H&M supplied a complete line of off-stage clothing for Madonna's entire touring troupe including band, dancers, crew members and the Material girl herself. Madonna and H&M's first collaboration at that time was a specially designed Madonna track suit which was sold at H&M stores world wide.

Founded in Sweden in 1947, H&M which has today over 1,300 stores in Europe, North America, Middle East and soon also in Eastern Asia, is synonymous around the world with fashion and quality at the best price. The company's collections are created by their own designers. The "M by Madonna" collection will be sold in 28 countries around the world.

Madonna, a multi-Grammy award winning artist, children's book author, fashion icon and visionary is a cultural innovator of astonishing diversity and enduring appeal. Her most recent CD Confessions on a Dance Floor debuted at No. 1 in 29 countries. Her Confessions Tour was the most successful tour ever by a female artist. "The Confessions Tour - Live From London" dvd/cd has just been released

Marc Jacobs - Spring Bags

I love everything Marc...but what was he thinking with the Irina bag? Now UK fans will probably love the color, but that's about it.

However, not all of the bags are completely unfortunate in the Marc Jacobs Spring Handbag Collection such as the Deborah and the Quilted Patent Leather Bowler...those are haute!!!!

E.L.F...still $1.00

Need a pick me up? Why not splurge on some $1 items???

Eyeslipsface.com still sells the majority of its items for $1 and it isn't crappy stuff! Seriously, we've purchased many different products / tools and so far we've been quite happy!

Here are a few worth ordering:

1. All Over Color Stick - the best colors Persimmon and Lilac Petal. I have pretty sensitive skin and it didn't irritate my skin at all. Lilac Petal is best just on the apple of the cheeks, not all over.

2. Plumping Lip Glaze - love Mauve Berry, Mocha Ice and Ruby Kiss. The glaze is great!

3. Lip Sticks - Crimson, Guava and Berry Brown are my haute faves here!

And just think all the above items would only cost you $8!!!

How haute is that!?

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

With the crazy-cold weather we've had lately, skin and hair can suffer!
Here are some helpers :

L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream 5.2 oz is available at Sephora...and is the only thing that can save your hands and cuticles from looking like a dry, ragged mess. Keep one in your car and in your bag to reapply when going outdoors.

Phyto Phytokarite Hair Treatment Mask With Shea Butter is serious moisture for dried out hair...get it online at Sephora or at Ivos Salon.

Exfoliate the bod with Philosophy Gingerbread Man 20 oz and follow up by moisturizing with L'Occitane Ultra Rich Body Cream 7 oz.

Chapped lips will benefit from Fresh Sugar Lip Balm SPF 15 .15 oz.This wears really well under lipstick and as a heavier layer overnight.

Worth a Try??

Nutraceuticals... new technology in skincare that isn't a lotion, cream or procedure...it's a supplement. A new release that's been getting alot of positive press recently is Imedeen.

Here's what the blissworld.com website has to say:

"Sold in Europe and Asia since 1991, Time Perfection is clinically and scientifically shown to increase your skin's density, moisture and protein synthesis while visibly decreasing fine lines and wrinkles. The result is skin that looks softer, smoother and younger- from head to toe. Comes with an informative CD. 3-month supply (180 tablets) or 1-month supply (60 tablets)"

What do you think? It sounds logical to me...

It's Top Design Night!

Top Design is on Bravo tonight at 10pm.

Check out Tim Gunn's interview with lead judge, Johathan Adler...and then read his 10 Commandments for a Happy, Chic Home.

Last week, I was glad to see Lisa hit the road, but sad to see Heather say goodbye. Heather seemed like she deferred to Lisa and her poor choices for the Chinese Restaurant-style retreat. After last week's Alexis Arquette, I can't wait to see who the guest client is...Alexis was a riot!

To kick off Fashion Week, I thought I'd pay tribute to a few of my favorite fashion icons.

But first a comment on FW thus far: I thought the legging trend was soon to be over...now enter....glittery, major spandex and metallic leggings and jumpsuits...oh dear LORD! I would rather D-I-E than wear what I have seen on the runway! Anyway, my mantra holds firm, "just because it is considered to be 'in-style' doesn't mean you wear it."

For more info on Fashion Week, stay up-to-date with this New York Post link.

Now, tribute to JUST a few of my favorite Haute fashion icons:

1. Eva Jeanbart Lorenzotti

2. Kelly Klein

3. Tory Burch

4. Elizabeth Hurley

5. Gucci Westman

Sinner or Saint

Poppy King is the Lipstick Queen! She is a world-renowned trend-spotting color expert who started her own line of lipstick in 1991 at the age of 18! Poppy came to New York in 2002 as a color designer for Estee Lauder. Her style is funky and fun...and her lipsticks have the perfect consistency & last forever!

Available online at Barney's New York, Lipstick Queen comes in two varieties...Sinner (opaque) and Saint (sheer)...and 20 lovely colors!

Haute New SkinCare...from Stella McCartney

New this month at Sephora..."We already know and love Stella McCartney for her modern fashion designs and naturally sexy scents. And now she's introducing CARE by Stella McCartney, a unique luxury line of certified organic skincare, formulated with 100 percent organic active ingredients and zero percent petrochemicals or silicones. Inspired by Stella's personal philosophies, clear vegetarian principles, and commitment to help protect the environment, CARE by Stella McCartney, is a unique range of ethical and effective skincare products that combines the ultimate in pampering and nature to give your skin everything it needs, and nothing it doesn't."

I ordered the CARE by Stella McCartney 5 Benefits Moisturising Cream 1.6 oz. While I am all about the Retin-A, the organic vegetarian in me loves the idea of a natural line of products.

And since we're talking Stella McCartney, try her fragrance...it's lovely!

HauteSpot Interview: Ariel Gobert, Red Hot Revolution

Ariel Gobert - Author, Mother, Revolutionary
(shown here with her daughter, Lynn Scott)
Red Hot Revolution

This fellow Lexitonian is one Haute Momma! Her recently published book, Red Hot Revolution, is about women getting fired up with passion, and as Gobert puts it, 'Start looking at life from a whole new perspective...the red hot perspective..."

Gobert, a Hautemomma over fifty, has an extremely contagious energy level! A Cancer research advocate, Gobert makes a donation to Women's Cancer Research every time a book is sold.

Find out more about this amazing Hautemomma by visiting her website and buying a book! It is truly a great read!!...Valentine Gift!!!

Also, recently quoted in a Business Lexington article.

Favorite vacation spot?
Rome - I took my daughter to Europe last summer as her hi school graduation and Italy was absolutely the most wonderful country we have ever visited . . . it could be those Italian men. . . you can never get used to scenery like that.

Favorite restaurant (local or not)?
I don’t have a favorite restaurant. Wherever I go, I try and find the small privately owned restaurants: the ones with their own unique recipes.

Style icon?
As for a style icon, I have never really thought about that. I suppose it would be Diane Keaton style.

Favorite gift to give?
My favorite gift to give is one that is so special and so very personal that it would not fit anyone else at the moment in time. I don’t always find that special gift so when I do, it is unforgettable.

What's in your beauty bag?
Bobbi Brown

Favorite hotel (local or not)?
Ocean Club - The Bahamas

Cocktail of choice?
I prefer Italian red wine. I have yet to find one that I don’t like.

What is style?
I believe that style is a part of one’s personality. I enjoy seeing people paint their own palette.
